Wholemeal Loaves

There's nothing quite like the smell and taste of freshly baked bread. And the lovely Catherine Leyden joins us this morning to show us how easy it can be to make your own Wholemeal Loaves at home.

Ingredients:
225g/8oz Odlums Coarse Wholemeal Flour
350g/12oz Heart's Delight Wheatmeal
125g/4oz Odlums Cream Plain Flour
50g/2oz Odlums Wheat Bran
50g/2oz Odlums Wheatgerm
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Odlums Bread Soda
2 tablespoons Cooking Oil
2 tablespoons Treacle
575ml/1pt Buttermilk
1 cup Milk

Method
• Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4. Grease 2 x 2lb loaf tins.
• Put wholemeal flour, wheatmeal, bran and wheatgerm into a bowl.
• Sieve in the cream flour, salt and soda. Mix well together.
• Add the oil, treacle, buttermilk and milk. Stir all the ingredients together well.
• Pour into loaf tins and bake for approx 1¼ hours. Cool on a wire tray.

Add on some Fruitfield Marmalade
