TV3’s brand new big money game show The Lie will finally hit our screens on Monday (17th February) at 8pm. The Lie, an original idea from 3Studios and STV Productions is a general knowledge game show with a difference – there are no questions.
The Lie sees a team of two contestants attempt to survive a nail-biting series of rounds, risking an increasing amount of cash on their ability to spot the lie. In each round they are faced with a series of statements in a chosen category, from pop culture to current affairs. There will always be one lie but as they get closer to the jackpot, the number of true statements and inevitably the number of pitfalls increase. The anticipation levels rise as the rounds go by, with the lies becoming more difficult to spot. This is a game of strategy, risk-taking and intelligence to win a total cash prize of €10,000.
The first episode of The Lie sees best friends Patrick and Catherine plan a methodical approach to the game. The highly competitive pair from Dublin met in college and they both work in the scientific field, Catherine in pharmaceuticals and Patrick works in labs. Self-confessed bad loser Catherine, revealed that Monopoly was banned in her household growing up while Patrick admits to using fake statistics to sound smart. Will their competitive nature and methodical approachbe a winning formula? It all boils down to one question – can they spot the lie?
The new game show which was filmed in the state-of-the-art TV3 Sony HD Studio in Ballymount, will hit Irish TV screens on Monday the 17th February with the multi-award winning broadcaster and journalist Jonathan McCrea as its host. TV3 will show ten 30 minute episodes, every Monday and Friday in a primetime 8pm slot.

Other recent shows to come out of the TV3 Sony HD Studio include Keith Barry: Brain Hacker and Challenging God with Vincent Browne plus upcoming programmes Crossfire and The People’s Debate with Vincent Browne.
