Virgin Media Television is now considering proposals to support for BAI S&V Round 44 - Climate Change & Climate Action.
We are looking for noisy, contemporary, youth skewing programmes that take an innovative approach to the theme of Climate Change & Climate Action and offer mass appeal across all Virgin Media platforms. The linear slot is hour-long, post-watershed and the target audience is 18-45. Projects that take a ‘digital first’ approach and present innovative and creative opportunities to engage a wider audience across our platforms will be of particular interest.
Building on the success of recent BAI funded original formats, such as Eating with the Enemy and Generation Dating, our primary focus for the round will be returnable brand-defining factual entertainment formats that make an impactful connection with Irish audiences but also appeal to viewers internationally, E.g: A property series that informs and inspires audiences with practical take out information on the process of eco-proofing our homes.
We will also consider ground-breaking factual series (multi episode) that present the theme of Climate Change & Climate Action through a lens that has not yet been seen. Loud must-see campaign /event pieces that we can amplify across the schedule are a priority. We are not looking for one-off or feature length documentaries at this time.
The programming should move beyond raising awareness of climate change and focus on informing, encouraging and facilitating the changes urgently needed to tackle climate challenges. Practical take out information is key. Our viewers should be informed, challenged and inspired in a unique and entertaining way.
Some useful questions your submission should address:
How will your proposed programme approach the theme of Climate Change & Climate Action in a fresh, unexpected and entertaining way?
How will it amaze and empower Virgin Media audiences?
What systemic, lifestyle and/or behavioural changes will it bring about?
How will the proposed programme bring a new understanding of the challenges and opportunities arising from the climate crisis and result in new behaviours among Irish audiences that help to address climate change?
How will it impact a sufficient number of viewers to achieve the aim of this funding initiative of reaching high numbers of people through this round if it is to contribute to societal change?
