Virgin Media Solutions: Insight - Guinness Six Nations

It's been a fantastic start to this year's Guinness Six Nations, with some incredible moments and matches already!

Ireland's Grand Slam Dreams may be over, but the Championship is still there for the taking. 

Since we're two weeks in, we wanted to take the opportunity to let you know how this year's Guinness Six Nations has been performing on Virgin Media Television.

Over 1.7 million viewers have tuned in to the first two weekends of live Guinness Six Nations coverage on Virgin Media One.

Viewership to the live match coverage of the three games to date on Virgin Media One is averaging 445,000 Individual viewers and a 42% share of viewing. 

Over half of all Adults 15-44 in Ireland with their TV sets turned on at the time were watching the live match coverage on Virgin Media One.

The live match coverage averaged a 54% Adults 25-44 share of viewing which is in growth of +6% vs last year’s live coverage on Virgin Media One.

On Saturday February 12th, an average of 815,000 viewers watched as Ireland were defeated by France with a 30-24 victory in Paris. In a pulsating game that saw Ireland almost come back to win... but instead, just fell short. To date, it is the most watched programme of 2022. Viewing peaked at 1 million viewers just before the final whistle, as a series of bad decisions and missed opportunities insured the French took the spoils.  

The game delivered an impressive average share of viewing of 63% for Individuals, increasing to over 70% share on younger male audiences. Average viewing saw growth of +2% on last year’s Ireland v France game, with +4% YoY growth for Adults 15-44. 

Next up on Virgin Media One & Virgin Media Player, France look to keep their Grand Slam ambitions on track when they travel to Murrayfield to take on an improved Scotland side. Can they do Ireland a favour? Maybe... just maybe...
